The City of Lethbridge continues to grow with the official 2010 census result at 86,659, a 1.37 per cent over the 2009 municipal census number. The strongest growth occurred in West and North Lethbridge with 910 and 281 new residents respectively. There was a slight decline in the population in South Lethbridge.
The census asked the number of people living in the household, their age and gender. The City population in 2009 was 85,492.
The City of Lethbridge continues to perform a census every year as it provides an accurate count for provincial and federal funding. Funding received from these sources will be used for facilities such as the Twin Ice Centre and the West Lethbridge Centre Library.
