Information for Candidates

Qualifications of Candidates:

• 18 years of age or older
• Canadian citizen
• Have been a resident of the local jurisdiction for the six consecutive months preceding Nomination Day

The 2011 Information for Candidates Manual is provided as a resource for those interested in running for City Council.  The manual provides:

• the legislation
• processes for running for the position of Alderman

The Candidates Manual is supplemental to the Municipal Government Act, Local Authorities Election Act, and the Election Bylaw.
