Distinguished Budget Presentation Award (2009-2011) from the Government Finance Officers Association
The City of Lethbridge submitted its 2009-2011 three year Operating Budget for review by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The City of Lethbridge, has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for a third time.
This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. It reflects the commitment of City Council and staff to meeting the highest principles of budgeting. In order to receive the Award, the City had to publish a budget document that met international program criteria as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan and as a communications device.
Given that the City’s budget is a triennial budget, the Award is for a three year period. This truly represents a significant achievement for the City of Lethbridge. Council should be very proud of its commitment to the triennial budgeting vision. We are among a select few communities in Canada that have earned this Award.

This award recognizes excellence in government accounting and financial reporting, and represents a significant achievement for the City of Lethbridge and an ongoing commitment to hold the City to the highest standards and best practices in financial reporting. The City has won this award multiple times.
2003 Innovation Award from Minister's Awards for Municipal Excellence for 2003-2005 Operating Budget
This award was given for the implementation of a three year operating budget, demonstrating excellence in municipal government practices.
