This two year planning project will ultimately produce detailed construction drawings and tender ready documents for construction of the new park.
Some of the project milestones are associated with the development of the Outline Plan and not directly the responsibility of the park project, however there is a requirement that this project integrate with the Outline plan process. Consultation between teams and information between the two projects must freely flow to keep both projects progressing. Coinciding with the development of the park design there will be continuing consultation with the City of Lethbridge Real Estate and Land Development section and their consulting team so the park and surrounding subdivision including schools become a well integrated development.
Much of the public process for developing the Concept Plan for the park and ultimately the detail design has been completed and documented in the North Regional Needs Assessment and Public Engagement study. The information collected in the study is the basis of the design and function of the park.
Building on the public engagement process completed, the project will include public exercises to engage and inform the general public on design and project progress. This public engagement process will include opportunities for the park to be named and the selection of specific amenities where practical by the public. A method for public information sharing complete with opportunity for comment will be included in the scope of this project.
Other than sharing information with the general public the principal point of public involvement will be with the Steering committee established in the first phase of the project. Their primary function will be to guide the refinement the list of desired park features and guide the development of the finalized park design concept plan.
The development of a concept plan will include materials and methods of sharing the plan in an understandable way to the public and a package to be used for a presentation to City Council.
A complete set of detailed park landscape construction drawings will be produced for use in the tendering process and subsequently during construction. The construction tendering process will include the tender packages, submission evaluation and recommendations.
If budget is available for construction in 2014 as planned, the contract for this design process may be extended to include construction management, quality control and quality assurance.
