What is the program?

Every October and November, the FREE Fall Leaf Collection program provides residents the option of having their fallen leaves picked up in paper yard waste bags for composting. The program does not accept branches, sod, soil or stumps. For other yard waste materials, please use your Green Cart, the Yard Waste Recycling Sites or the Waste and Recycling Centre (Landfill).

FAQs

How can I participate?

Bag your fallen leaves in paper yard waste bags. Please limit the weight of each bag to 25lbs or less.
Schedule your free pick up by calling 311 between October 3 and November 10 during business hours and we will provide you with an approximate pick up date. Collections take place between October 11 and November 17.
Place your bags in the area where your garbage is normally collected, at least 3 feet from the cart, 24 hours prior to your scheduled pick-up date. Please close the top of the bag to ensure your leaves get picked up.

Where do the leaves go?

Leaves and paper yard waste bags are taken to the Waste and Recycling Centre (Landfill) to be composted.

Options for leaves and yard waste.

Residents can:

Place their leaves in their Green Cart for collection
Drop their leaves off at one of our Yard Waste Recycling Sites.
Bring their extra leaf material to the Waste & Recycling Centre (Landfill)
Compost or mulch at home by starting your own backyard composter.
