The City of Lethbridge continues to grow with the official 2013 census results at 90,417, an increase of 1,343 (1.51 per cent) over the 2012 municipal census number. The strongest growth occurred in West Lethbridge with 1,141 new residents.

“The City continues to demonstrate a sustainable growth pattern”, says Mayor Rajko Dodic. “The stable growth experienced allows the City to plan for the future more effectively.”

The City of Lethbridge continues to perform a census every year as it provides us an accurate count for provincial and federal funding. Funding received from these sources is used for facilities such as the CASA (Community Arts Centre), Crossings Ice
Complex and the newest cemetery, Royal View Memorial Cemetery.

The City is pleased with the commitment of the census takers and the response from residents. “The participation of residents in our yearly census is greatly appreciated,” says David Sarsfield, Deputy City Clerk. “Without the participation and cooperation of
our residents, we would not be able to collect the information that we require.” The census takers asked for the number of people living in the household, their ages and their genders.
