City Council received a presentation and voted to approve the 2016 City of Lethbridge Annual Report. The document showcases the many accomplishments in the community during 2016.

Decision on permanent rainbow and transgender crosswalks delayed 2 weeks

City Council is waiting for information on logistical questions before making a decision on a request for permanent painting of two downtown crossowalks in rainbow and transgender colours. Representatives of the Lethbridge Pride Fest Society appeared at Council to make the request regarding two crosswalks on 3 Avenue South at the 6 Street South intersection. In June 2016, four downtown crosswalks were painted in rainbow colours for Lethbridge Pride Fest using temporary, biodegradable paint.

Uber seeks bylaw amendments for ridesharing

A request by Uber by bylaw changes to accommodate the ridesharing company has been referred to administration and to report back to City Council by June 19. An Uber representative asked City Council to define ridesharing separatly from taxis, which are governed locally under the Business License Bylaw.
