Council backs local bid to host 2019 World Men's Curling Championships

Council members voted unanimously to back a bid by ENMAX Centre to host the 2019 Ford Men's World Curling Championships with $500,000 (cash & in-kind) from the Major Community Event Hosting Grant, if the bid is successful. The event would take place in early April 2019 and would include the top 12 teams from around the world.

Lethbridge short-listed in bidding to host 2022 Can-Am Police Fire Games

City Council received a written update indicating Lethbridge has been short-listed in its bid to host the 2022 Can-Am Games. A decision on the winning bid is expected by Dec. 12, 2017.

City is in a positive financial position heading into 2018

A September 2017 Operating Forecast was submitted by the City's Finance staff indicating the City is poised to enter 2018, the final year of the current four-year operating budget, in a positive financial position.
