​Council commits $15,000 to help host 2017 Western Canadian U-16 Football Championships

City Council members unanimously approved a request by the Lethbridge Sport Council for $15,000 to help host the 2017 Western Canadian Under-16 Football Championships in Lethbridge July 1-9. The funding will be provided from the City's Major Community Event Hosting Grant.

City to seek provincial grant to help fund planning & preliminary design of 62 Avenue North

City administration will apply for $200,000 to help fund the functional planning and preliminary design of 62 Avenue North (Scenic Drive to 43 Street North), a future transportation corridor at the north city limit. City Council unanimously endorsed a recommendation from administration to pursue the funding from the Alberta Community Partnership Grant program. The application has also been endorsed by Lethbridge County Council.

150 trees to be planted in Lethbridge's three major parks in 2017 to mark Canada's 150th birthday

City Council unanimously approved a resolution to designate 150 trees to be planted on or around Canada Day, July 1, this year. The new trees will be planted in three groves of 50 trees each in Henderson Park, Legacy Park and Nicholas Sheran Park. The initiative will be included and funded as part of the City's annual tree planting program.
