2016 U16 Canadian National Soccer Championships

Lethbridge will host the 2016 U16 National Soccer Championships this fall thanks to support from the City of Lethbridge's major events grant funding. The event will be held at the Lethbridge Sports Park and the U of L Community Stadium October 5-10, 2016.

2016 Lethbridge census results

Lethbridge continues to grow with the official 2016 census results showing a population of 96,828, an increase of 2,024 (2.13 per cent) over the 2015 municipal census number. The annual census determines the number of people living in each household as well as their ages and sex. This snapshot of the city's demographics helps City Planners determine what services will be needed in what areas.

City Sells Oliver Building

City Council has approved the sale of the Oliver Building in downtown Lethbridge located at 316 - 5 St. S. The building will be sold to the highest evaluated bidder, Hegnberg Ltd., for the purchase price of $9,500. The new owners will also be required to adhere to the recently approved direct control land use bylaw.

Changes to  bylaw and Development Plan for northside property

Following a public hearing council voted to move forward with changes to the land use bylaw for 1419 - 4 Avenue N and the subsequent changes required to the Westminister Neighbourhood Develpment Plan. These changes will see the existing burned out residence be demolished and replaced with a new single detached or two dwelling unit on an interim basis. In the long term the property would be redeveloped if/when the adjoining shopping centre is redeveloped.
