Festival, food and fun all part of cycling event

Spectators planning to take in this year's Tour of Alberta, presented by ATB Financial, will not only witness world class cycling but also enjoy plenty of free activities and entertainment.

The Tour's Community Festival presented by the Crossings Shopping Centre will be held in Galt Gardens from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on race day – September 1. The event will include performances on the B-93/Country 95.5 Entertainment Stage and booths from local, provincial and international organizations and sponsors.

For families, the SAAG Art Area Powered by EmbroidMe will be an interactive, family art space and the Melcor KidZone will include bouncy castles, balloon artists, a YMCA BBQ and Open Streets Calgary who use interactive games to promote active transportation.

In addition to the festival events, the site will provide a prime location to watch the race as the cyclists pass the start/finish line at Galt Gardens nine times and a big screen will be set up to watch the race live as it runs through the city.

For those arriving to the park on two wheels, a bike valet organized by local cycling group, Bikebridge will provide security for all bikes.

To get the community excited and ready for this event, there will be many free activities throughout the city leading up to September 1.
