Flags at City Hall will be lowered to half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, April 9 to mark the National Day of Remembrance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
The Battle of Vimy Ridge took place in 1917 during the First World War and was the first time all four divisions of the Canadian Corps went into battle together. The Canadian victory at Vimy Ridge carried a heavy cost. Canada suffered more than 10,000 casualties, including 3,598 fatalities.
