More people will be able to enjoy the newly renovated Henderson Pool as the season extends to Sunday, September 18.
The pool, which was originally scheduled to close after Labour Day, has been a popular destination over the summer. To help accommodate demand, plans have been developed to operate the pool with modified hours after the Labour Day long weekend.
From September 5-18, Henderson Pool will be open 4 p.m. to sunset during the weekdays and 12 noon to sunset on weekends. This will be weather dependent and closing times will change as the days get shorter.
The revamped Henderson Pool boasts new waterslides, climbing wall, one meter diving board, drop slide and Rotary spray park and improves accessibility by offering a zero-depth entry pool and accessible change rooms. In addition, mechanical systems and the replacement of circulation equipment will improve water quality and increase efficiency.
The upgraded facility opened to the public July 15 with a grand opening celebration held July 28.
The City of Lethbridge and pool operator Recreation Excellence have worked together to develop an operations and staffing plan that will support the extended Henderson Pool operations.
