The guiding document for how the City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County work together – the Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) - has been updated and approved.
The IDP specifically speaks to collaboration between the City and County. This includes future planning and development as well as identifying opportunities for partnering on infrastructure projects. It also puts emphasis on the protection of natural environments, open spaces and water.
The City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County share over 50 km of border. How each municipality uses their land will affect the other. Both municipalities are committed to working together to enhance cooperation and achieve coordination wherever possible to ensure positive outcomes for all residents.
Bylaws to implement the plan were officially adopted on October 17 by the City of Lethbridge and October 20 by Lethbridge County. The new Intermunicipal Development Plan replaces the one that has been in place since August 2004.
