Owners of Income Producing Properties Receive 2012 Assessment Notices

Assessment Notices for approximately 2,100 income producing properties (apartments, offices, retail and industrial) were mailed on Friday, January 27, 2012.

“We are asking owners of these properties to review their assessment valuations and to please contact our office if you have any questions or concerns,” says Assessment and Taxation Manager Stan Dilworth. “The 2012 assessment reflects the estimated amount your property may have realized if it was sold on the open market as of July 1, 2011.”

Although the Assessment Notice includes an estimate of 2012 taxes, this is not your 2012 tax bill.  Budgetary requirements for City services have been determined and the 2012 tax levies will be finalized in March/April when the budgetary requirements are determined to fund Provincial education and Green Acres Foundation programs.

Owners with questions or concerns can call 403-320-3950. The remaining 36,000 residential property owners will receive a combined Property Assessment and Tax Notice in May as usual.  The 2012 taxes for all properties are due by June 29, 2012 to avoid late penalties.
