Effective on Friday, June 10 southbound Scenic Drive North will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue North and 5 Avenue North to facilitate the first phase of pathway construction along the west side of the road.
This closure is expected to remain in effect for approximately 10 days, depending on weather, and the southbound speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h in this area until construction is complete. Motorists are advised drive with caution in this construction zone or to use Stafford Drive or 13 Street North as alternative routes.
This lane closure is necessary for construction of a multi-use asphalt pathway that will complete a missing link in the city's pathway network between north and south Lethbridge. This project will include installation of a new pedestrian crosswalk with flashing lights at the Scenic Drive off-ramp to 5 Avenue North.
It is one of four pathway projects being undertaken this year to improve connectivity and fill gaps in the city's pathway network. Details on these projects are available at: http://www.lethbridge.ca/Projects
