Temporary lane closures will be implemented at the Whoop-Up Drive/University Drive interchange starting Thursday, June 9 to facilitate adjacent pathway construction. These closures are expected to be in effect for 7-10 days.
The right-turn lane from eastbound Whoop-Up Drive to southbound University Drive will be closed, and University Drive will be reduced to two-lanes in either direction. The speed limit will be reduced to 30 km/h in these areas until construction is complete. The left-turn lane from eastbound Whoop-Up Drive to northbound University Drive will remain open.
Motorists are advised drive with caution in construction zones. Motorists wishing to access southbound University Drive from eastbound Whoop-Up Dr are advised to do so using McMaster Boulevard West via Columbia Boulevard West or McGill Boulevard West.

These lane closures are necessary for construction of a multi-use asphalt pathway that will improve connectivity of the west Lethbridge pathway network between Lafayette Boulevard West, Whoop-Up Drive and University Drive. This project will include installation of a new pedestrian crosswalk for east-west access across University Drive.
It is one of four pathway projects being undertaken this year to improve connectivity and fill gaps in the city's pathway network. Details on these projects are available at: http://www.lethbridge.ca/Projects
