Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a grass fire in the Alexander Wilderness Park area of north Lethbridge at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
When crews arrived, there was grass and brush on fire. A total of 17 Emergency Service personnel from four stations responded and contained the spread of the fire to the river valley area. There were no injuries and no loss of property.
Investigators have determined the fire started as a result of a campfire that was not properly extinguished. Residents are reminded that there is a city-wide fire ban in place due to extremely dry conditions. The ban is in effect for all open fires within the City of Lethbridge including campfires and backyard fire pits.
