The City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County share more than 50 km of shared boundaries. The activities of each municipality are inextricably linked and affect one another. Both municipalities are committed to working together to enhance cooperation and achieve coordination wherever possible so that the effects we have on one another and our residents is positive.
A key component to ensuring ongoing cooperation and coordination is an Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP), a joint municipal planning document intended to:
- foster ongoing cooperation and coordination between the two municipalities within a defined planning area regarding land use, transportation (roads), servicing and utilities, for example
- address conflict resolution mechanisms for the two municipalities
- provide policies to guide future planning and development potential, annexations, and other matters of joint planning interest within the plan area.
The City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County have developed an updated draft plan to replace the existing Intermunicipal Development Plan that was adopted in 2004. Our two municipalities would like to hear what our respective residents think of this updated draft plan.
