Residents are reminded that Lethbridge Fire/EMS and the Lethbridge Police Service are joining with Lethbridge RCMP and emergency responders from more than two dozen other agencies to conduct a joint disaster emergency response exercise in Lethbridge on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
This exercise will include a mock disaster which will be staged at the City's West Lethbridge Operations Depot along the north end of University Drive. A similar exercise will be held on Thursday, June 2 involving Lethbridge County, the Coalhurst Fire Department, Lethbridge RCMP and Alberta Health Services EMS.
On both of these dates, Lethbridge residents may notice smoke and occasional loud noises as well as emergency vehicles travelling to and from the site, all of which are associated with this exercise.
Motorists and the public are asked to avoid the area during these exercises. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h along University Drive adjacent to the site of the exercise, and signage will be posted along roads and Highway 3 access points nearby.
