The City of Lethbridge has received new information from the Lethbridge Regional Police Service which has raised a concern about public safety regarding the origin of spent rifle ammunition recovered in North Lethbridge.
As a result, after a meeting Feb. 9 between the City of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Fish and Game Association, the association’s shooting range has been closed until further notice in the interest of public safety to provide administration and City Council an opportunity to fully review all new information. That review is expected to be completed within the next several weeks.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding any ongoing closure of the facility. The City of Lethbridge acknowledges that the Lethbridge Fish and Game Association shooting range in Peenaquim Park is very well run and that the association has made admirable efforts to make it as safe as possible.
No further information will be released until City Council and City administration have completed their review.
