Snow crews are mobilized

Snowy weather is back, and City of Lethbridge snow clearing crews are mobilized.

Initial sanding, salting, and snow clearing efforts are focused on the busiest arterial roads throughout the city, which we identify as Priority 1 routes. These include: Whoop-Up Drive, Métis Trail, University Drive, Bridge Drive, Mayor Magrath Drive, Scenic Drive, 26 Avenue North, 28 Street North, 1 Avenue South west of Scenic Dr., 5 Avenue North (from Hwy 3 to Stafford Dr.). Priority 1 routes are determined based on traffic volume and road incline.

The speed limit on Whoop-up Drive has been reduced to 60km/h until further notice.

Motorists are reminded to adjust their driving for winter road conditions. Winter driving tips:

  • Slow down and drive with care
  • Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you
  • Stay a safe distance behind snow plows and sand trucks
  • Never pass a snow plow or sand truck

More information on the City's Snow and Ice Control program is available online at: www.lethbridge.ca/WinterRoads.
