Yard waste sites close for season on Nov. 30

On Thursday, Nov. 30, the three City of Lethbridge yard waste sites will close for the season.

Yard waste sites were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Bridge Drive West Recycling Station - at the top of Bridge Dr. W. hill, right before the junction of Bridge Dr. W. and University Dr.
  • Stafford Drive North Recycling Station - located at the junction of Stafford Dr. N. and Scenic Dr. N.
  • South Side Recycling Station - located on 28 Ave. S. between the Lethbridge Soccer Complex and Lethbridge Judo Club

In 2017, a total of 1.37 million kilograms of yard waste was diverted from the landfill, a 15-per cent increase over last year. The weight of this yard waste is equivalent to 845 mid-sized cars! Grass, leaves and garden waste collected at yard waste sites is composted at the Waste & Recycling Centre and used in city parks and planting beds.

The Waste & Recycling Centre will accept yard waste for composting between Dec. 1 and Mar. 31, with no disposal fees charged to city residents on Saturdays. Recycling stations remain open year round.

For additional information on other waste disposal options visit www.lethbridge.ca or call Waste & Recycling Services at 403-320-3850.
