Scenic Drive & 11th Street

With 68.38 acres of usable land this is Lethbridge’s largest cemetery. The City of Lethbridge Cemeteries Office for sales, service and records; and a maintenance compound are located on the site. There is an information kiosk to assist the public in locating gravesites.

December 27, 1966, the Eternal Flame was lit on the monument at the entrance of Mountain View Cemetery and was dedicated to “Those Who Served.” The monument was a Diamond Jubilee project of the Army and Navy Veterans, Unit No. 34; the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 4; and the City of Lethbridge. It is inscribed “To You From Falling Hands We Throw The Torch” and “Lest we Forget.”

Mountain View Cemetery has many alternative sections for casket or cremation burials serving religious and ethic groups, which include:

• Catholic Section for single casket burials or double depth for two casket burials, one on top of the other.
• Public/Protestant Sections for single casket burials or double depth casket burials.
• Babyland for children 6-years and younger.
• Ashes Section for in ground burial of cremains.
• Columbarium Niches for inurnment of cremains in a granite structure above ground.
• Scattering Garden for the scattering of cremated remains.
• Scatter Garden Monument for the memorialization of scattered cremains.
• Field of Honour for the burial of any soldier who has been in active service with the Armed Forces of Her Majesty or of Her Majesty’s Allies.
• Hebrew Section for members of the Hebrew Congregation.
• Japanese Section (designated for Japanese)
• Chinese Section (designated for the Chinese burials)
