Lethbridge, Alberta – The City of Lethbridge has been awarded the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its annual report. The Award was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high quality financial reports, and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.
“This award represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, and I commend the City’s administration for their service to the community,” says Mayor Bob Tarleck. “Our annual report to citizens has been judged by an impartial Canadian Review Committee and recognized Canada-wide for concisely communicating the City’s financial story.”
In accepting the award on behalf of the City of Lethbridge and its Financial Services group, Corey Wight, Director of Corporate Services says, “Earning this award for the 13th consecutive time shows our long term dedication to providing the people of Lethbridge with complete financial information in an easy-to-understand, and attractive format.”
The City’s fiscal year-end is December 31st, and the Annual Report for 2009 is currently in production. Copies of the award winning Annual Report for 2008 are available at www.lethbridge.ca.
