When You Need Help
Positive, caring and supportive relationships with adults and the community are a proven component of a child’s healthy growth and development. The City of Lethbridge supports various programs to provide this service in our community.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lethbridge and District is a volunteer based agency dedicated to servicing the needs of children aged 6 to 16 by matching them with positive adult role models (45 matches in 2000) who will provide for them an atmosphere of sharing, caring and trust. School mentoring, one of the newest and most successful programs (20 matches in 2000), involves the development of a one to one relationship between an elementary school student and an adult volunteer.

Teen Naturalist
The Extreme By Nature Teen Naturalists is a volunteer naturalist program that provides teens to work in the City’s parks and interpretive programs. It enhances opportunities for youth to make a positive contribution to this community by volunteering in programs that serve adults, youth and young children, as well as special needs individuals and groups. Two of the teens involved with this program are recipients of the Youth Leader of Tomorrow Award. This youth development program aims to integrate the optimism and energy of youth with the increasingly urgent role of environmental stewardship.
