Electric Rates, Tariffs, and Fees

Electric Regulated Rate Option Tariff (RRO). The RRO provides for electricity service as required under Alberta government legislation and regulations regarding electricity. The RRO is designed to provide a rate for residential customers and small commercial customers who consume less than 250 MWh per year. The RRO is being offered during the transition to a competitive electricity retail market, allowing customers time to assess competitive pricing offers from electricity retailers. The RRO is developed as provided for under the Alberta Electric Utility Act (EUA) and Regulations and approved under City bylaw by City Council.

Electric Distribution Tariff (DT). The City of Lethbridge Distribution Tariff (DT) is a schedule of fees and terms & conditions for access to the City of Lethbridge electric distribution system. The DT applies to all electric services connections within the Lethbridge electric service area. The DT is developed as provided for under the Alberta Electric Utility Act (EUA) and Regulations and approved under City bylaw by City Council. 

Electric Default Supply Tariff. The current Electric Default Supplier Tariff includes a DS Electric Energy Price Setting Plan, a Default Rate Schedule, Terms and Conditions for Default Supplier and Electric Utility Terms and Conditions of Electric Service. 

Distribution Service Agreement (DSA). The City of Lethbridge provides Distribution Service Agreements (DSA) based on contract demand determined by a customers load forecast. A DSA is available to all eligible customers.

Transmission Tariff (TT). A direct charge by the City of Lethbridge to the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) for the City providing transmission facilities as part of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System (AIES). The City of Lethbridge owns and operates electric transmission facilities (138 kV) in conjunction with its electric distribution facilities. Transmission ownership and operating costs are accounted for separately and are not directly included within tariffs/rates charged to City electric distribution Customers Distribution Tariff).

 Fee Schedule. DT fees are those charged by the City of Lethbridge Wire Services Provider or designated agents (LWSP), for services pertaining to but not directly included within Distribution and Regulated Default Supply Tariffs.

Your Electricity Bill. Electric customers under the Regulated Rate Option Tariff receive their electricity bill from the City of Lethbridge. Customers receiving electricity from a retailer will receive their bill directly from their retailer.
