FIRE. . .IT’S NO GAME FOR CHILDREN TO PLAY
Fires started by children playing with fire are a leading cause of fire deaths and injuries in Alberta. By understanding what circumstances lead children to start fires and by following a few basic fire safety practices, you can reduce the chances of children starting destructive fires.
THINK FIRE SAFETY. . .
§ Children should never play with matches, lighters or candles.
§ Don’t go near the stove when mom is cooking. You could be scalded or badly burned.
§ CLEAN UP! Flammable things should be properly stored in the home.
§ DON’T overload extension cords or wall outlets.
§ Plan an escape route for your house with mom and dad.
§ If you are in a room filled with smoke, crawl along the floor where the air is cleaner!
§ If your clothing catches on fire STOP, DROP and ROLL!
§ SMOKE DETECTORS save lives. Make sure your family has one! You should also have a suitable fire extinguisher.
