Fire Prevention Week Campaign -

Fire Prevention Week is an important annual even that takes place across North America.  The designated week serves as reminder of the importance of fire safety and fire prevention.

Your home should be a safe haven.  But do you regularly check for home fire hazards?  If not, there is the potential for danger.  That’s why the theme for this year is “It’s Fire Prevention Week: Prevent Home Fires!”

During this time the Lethbridge Fire Prevention Bureau will spread the word within the community that with a little extra caution, preventing the leading causes of home fires – cooking, heating, electrical and smoking materials is within their power.

Please call the Fire Prevention at 320-3811 if you have any questions regarding Fire Prevention week or access the website at:

2008 Fire Prevention Week - Alberta Emergency Management Agency

For any celebration, leave the fireworks display to the trained professionals.  Fireworks used by amateurs result in severe burns, lacerations, blindness, and amputations.

For the safety of our residents, the City of Lethbridge prohibits the discharge of fireworks and does not issue permits for the sale or purchase of fireworks.

The City of Lethbridge urges surrounding communities to join them in following the Alberta Fire Code regulations regarding fireworks.
