Health and Safety

The City of Lethbridge takes the health and safety of its employees very seriously.  A wide range of programs are provided that assist all staff to support  a safe work environment.

Benefit Packages to meet your requirements

Benefits are an important part of an employees overall compensation package.  Most employee groups enjoy the Alternative Benefit Choices Flex Plan.   This is a unique plan that was developed to meet the specific needs of our employees.  This plan includes the following benefits:

  • Employee Basic Life Insurance
  • Optional Employee and Spousal Insurance
  • Employee Accidental Death and Dismemberment
  • Optional Accidental Death and Dismemberment
  • Extended Health Care
  • Dental Care
  • Health Spending Accounts/Taxable Spending Accounts

In addition, employees participate in both Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability programs to provide income should they become disabled.

Employee and Family Assistance Program

The City of Lethbridge provides an EFAP programs which provides for confidential professional counseling for employees and their families as a proactive option in managing personal health and happiness.

Pension

The City of Lethbridge participates in the Alberta Pension Plan.  Special Forces Pension Plan for Police personnel (with the exception of civilian staff) and Local Authorities Pension Plan for all other employees.
