Parks Planning Technician 10-11 (Closing Date: February 12, 2010 - 4:30 p.m.)
The City of Lethbridge, Infrastructure Services, Parks Section is accepting applications for the permanent position of Parks Planning Technician.The successful applicant, under the direction of the Parks Manager, will perform complex technical work in support of Parks planning, design, construction and maintenance. You will collect, analyze, summarize, interpret and report data relating to a variety of park projects. You will support other staff in the composition and presentation of reports to the public, City Council, and community groups. You will prepare drawings, tender documents, and assist in procurement activities. You will be responsible for managing a variety of projects related to construction, managing data bases, testing, data collection, work processes and information management. You will have a key role in developing and implementing an emerging Asset Management program as well as other Parks business process. You will perform other related duties as required.

The ENMAX Centre has played host to world class concerts, PBR Bull Riding, Alberta Arenacross championships, multicultural events, national curling championships, international basketball, professional skating events, and is the proud home of the Western Hockey League Lethbridge Hurricanes. This multi-purpose event centre can accommodate over 6500 patrons and is currently undergoing a major facility expansion and renovation that will provide exciting opportunities for the growth of services and events. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall strategic leadership and administration of the ENMAX Centre to ensure it operates in a cost effective and efficient manner that continues to attract quality events and maximizes the entertainment experience of patrons. Reporting to the General Manager, Recreation and Culture, you will use your well-developed strategic marketing and business know-how to actively pursue entertainment opportunities and build strong relationships with a variety of clients and stakeholders from the entertainment industry, media groups, production personnel, venue tenants, the general public, and other City departments. This will include negotiating and managing contract license and operational agreements. You will be expected to maintain an environment that encourages individual commitment and growth, fosters teamwork, and recognizes the importance of excellent customer relationships. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of policies and procedures. You will also effectively prepare, present and manage the annual operating and capital budgets.
