WRESTLEBASH 2009

Canadian Wrestling's Hottest Ticket

Temperatures in Alberta have descended to chilling lows, but the action is hotter than ever in Power Zone Wrestling as wrestling fans prepare for what is sure to be the hottest ticket of the holiday season with this week's WRESTLEBASH 2009 supercard on Sunday, December 13th at Bully's South Pavilion in Lethbridge.

Five explosive matches will be showcased in one of Power Zone Wrestling's biggest events in four years. Here's what's in store:

The Future of PZW is on the line .

When THE STORMBRINGER goes head to head with GOTHIK KNIGHT Fans and wrestlers alike have been aggravated by the sour attitude and self-destructive behaviour of the Stormbringer, whose downward spiral threatens to bring Power Zone Wrestling to a slow but certain demise. Stormbringer was a driving force in the creation and development of PZW in 2005 and was recognized as a franchise player in the organization, whether cheered or booed by the rignsiders. However, after a year which has wreaked havoc on him personally and professionally, he seems poised to tear down the legacy that he has bled to build. In the opposing corner, Lethbridge's own Gothik Knight has made one of the most herculean comebacks in all of professional sports and isn't willing to let pro wrestling's reign atop the southern Alberta sports scene slip into dormancy again. Knight has appeared internationally, with matches for the defunct World Championship Wrestling as well as tours in Puerto Rico and has become a favorite among the PZW fans. Can Gothik Knight save Power Zone Wrestling?

It's a matter of respect .

That brings VANCE NEVADA to the fray against "CLASS ACT" KEVIN MARTEL One would be hard pressed to identify two Canadian wrestlers who have had a more stellar year than these two adversaries. Martel, a graduate of Calgary's Storm Wrestling Academy has done well on the independent scene, scoring victories over an impressive list of opponents. This year, the sophomore sensation even scored an appearance on WWE television opposing Vladimir Koslov. His opponent, a sixteen year veteran of the mat game hits the ring after being awarded his ninth listing in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Top 500 and having recently published a new book WRESTLING IN THE CANADIAN WEST. This will be an interesting showdown between two of the most intellectual grapplers to ever hit the mat, each looking for the other to concede defeat in a battle of respect.

All eyes are on gold .

As ADRIAN WALLS looks to wrest the PZW championship away from CHASE PATRICK In the history of Power Zone Wrestling, nobody has dominated the competition like Adrian Walls, a two time PZW champion, Walls has battled against an international array of talent and has seldom been outclassed. The former mixed martial artist seems more focused than ever to be the first three time champion in the history of the franchise. Chase Patrick, as champion, has been on an incredible role. Dubbed "The Assassin" by his peers, Patrick has pursued an aggressive schedule and enters WrestleBash fresh off a week in the WWE's Tampa, Florida training camp. Could Patrick be using the PZW title to springboard to greater heights in the business, or will Adrian Walls cement his legacy with a third title win?

Two PZW originals collide .

when "COWBOY" BRYN WATTS fends off KYLE SEBASTIAN Power Zone Wrestling opened with a training camp producing a select group of wrestling hopefuls. Among the standouts in that inaugural class were teen prodigies Bryn Watts and Kyle Sebastian. Watts, who has been one of the most visible faces in Lethbridge for four years, has been a thorn in the side of wrestlers and fans alike with his perpetual presence on the microphone and interference in some key bouts over the course of PZW history. Fans were recently thrilled to have Watts muzzled and removed from his post as master of ceremonies at Bully's events. Young Sebastian started his career at sixteen years old and in 2009, has been away from Alberta rings as his career has gone national. With appearances from coast to coast and a title reign or two along the way, Sebastian has been attracting attention from some influential folks in the wrestling business and his stock continues to rise. His WrestleBash appearance marks the first time Kyle will be appearing in Lethbridge in 2009.

It's a David and Goliath struggle .

when referee JESSE DURST attempts to topple CANADIAN DREAM If it's true that wrestling fans love to root for the underdog, then this special challenge match will see Medicine Hat's Jesse Durst on the receiving end of worship-level adulation as the light heavyweight rookie rassler hits the mat against the 265 pound behemoth, Canadian Dream. Dream has stepped in the ring with some of the biggest and best during his PZW career and has destroyed a number of opponents . he'd like to continue that streak at WrestleBash with young Jesse Durst. Durst, a recent graduate of the PZW Power Shop enters this, his second professional bout, with a daunting challenge ahead. He needs to survive ten minutes in the ring with PZW's most ornery brute to declare a victory - he doesn't have to pin his heavyweight opponent, just survive the time limit. Will Durst pull off the upset of the year, or will his career end before it has a chance to begin?

SPECIAL NIGHT AND TIME .

For one night only, the action at Bully's South Pavilion takes place on Sunday night, December 13th with the opening bell at 6:00 pm. Be sure to get there early to get a good seat, tickets will be available at the door, but are expected to sell out. Don't ya dare miss it.
