Communities in Bloom

People, Plants and Pride, Growing Together

The Communities in Bloom national program promotes involvement and action by citizens of all ages, local government, organizations and businesses. The program strives to improve the tidiness, appearance and visual appeal of Canada’s neighborhoods, parks, open spaces and streets through imaginative use of flowers, plants and trees. This exciting program has been designed to involve the whole community with the challenge of increasing our environmental awareness, while at the same time beautifying our city.

The mission statement of Communities in Bloom says it all:
“Communities in Bloom is a Canadian organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation and the challenge of national competition.”
Benefits to the community include:

• Increased real estate values
• Increased tourism
• Creation of habitats for wildlife within an urban environment
• Educational value for our city’s children
• Sense of community and civic pride through public participation
• Increased international exposure
