Where Life Never Rests!
In the middle of this small 15 hectare (36 acre) nature reserve lies an oxbow pond, formed when the Oldman River changed course. The environment created by this and the surrounding wooded areas provide a diversity of habitats for plants, mammals, birds and insects. Many of these are easily identified by use of interpretive signs along the trail.
Amid the rushes and cattails, muskrats, beavers and even turtles can be seen swimming or sunning themselves. Waterfowl and songbirds, diving beetles, dragonflies, fisher spiders and water striders are part of the ceaseless activity of the wetlands. The Wildlife Viewing Blind provides an excellent vantage point for nature lovers.
