About the Project

This project is a continuation of the Spitz Stadium upgrades which started in 2015. Phase 2 will include:

  • Upper level concourse to allow top down access to grandstand seating and provide designated upper level accessible seating

  • Additional public washrooms

  • Completion of concession

  • Facilitation of accessibility requirements including addition of an elevator

  • New press and announcer booth

 

Background

Spitz Stadium was constructed in 1975 and has been the premiere baseball facility in Lethbridge ever since. The lighted baseball stadium can accommodate over 2000 people and is home to over 250 games per year with and estimated annual attendance of approximately 55,000.

Phase 1 of the stadium upgrades included enhancements to the exterior and upgrades below the stadium with the creation of a concession/pro shop, public washrooms, umpire change rooms and first aid room. This was part of the previous Capital Improvement Program totaling $2.9 million. ​
