ACCESS-A-Ride is a City of Lethbridge service for people who are unable to use the regular public transit service with safety and dignity.
ACCESS-A-Ride is a shared ride public transportation service that operates within the City of Lethbridge, it is not a direct ride service. Booking and scheduling decisions are made to allow as many riders as possible to use the system while staying within our budgetary guidelines.
The cost of operating ACCESS-A-Ride is offset by fares collected from users, with the operating deficit being funded by the City of Lethbridge.
Service is provided within Lethbridge on a shared-ride “accessible door to accessible door” basis, providing a safe and secure trip from origin to destination. At no time do our drivers enter a client’s home. If a client requires help at home to enable them to be ready to go when ACCESS-A-Ride arrives it is the responsibility of the family or caregivers to make sure they have the assistance needed.
The Lethbridge Handi-bus Association was a not-for-profit organization that provided handi-bus service in Lethbridge starting in 1975. Over that time the system grew to a fleet of 20 buses serving about 1500 registered clients. As of August 1, 2007 the paratransit services for the City of Lethbridge became part of the Lethbridge Transit department and was renamed to ACCESS-A-Ride. Access-A-Ride currently has 20 buses, many of which have been upgraded to the large 16 passenger units, and has approximately 1500 registered clients.
Paying Your Fare
ACCESS-A-Ride clients may use a Breeze Card loaded with fare or cash to pay for their trip on the bus. The fare for 2016 is $2.80. Customers are asked to please have exact change as drivers are unable to provide change.
If you would like to use a Breeze Card to pay your fare, please call our office at 403-320-3885 and we will be happy to send one to you. You may then load the card at our office by cheque, cash, credit or debit, you may send a cheque to our office indicating the Breeze Card number and client name, you may call our office with a credit card and we can process it over the phone or you may reload them at any of our sales outlets throughout the City.
There are two options when reloading an Access-A-Ride Breeze Card. You may put tickets on your card (the new form of tokens) or you may just put cash. We recommend picking one and sticking to it so you always know how many tickets or how much cash you have on your card. And we would recommend adding tickets. The benefit to you is that when there is a fare increase, you have already bought the tickets for the lower price and they are still good. If you just have cash on your card, the when the fare increase occurs, your cash will be deducted at the new higher fare.

Customer Care Centre
Monday - Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm
The Customer Care Centre will take your trip bookings or cancellations, registration, or any questions that you may have.
After hour telephone answering is provided by an answering service who can only take cancellations for your trip. If you require a trip to change to your existing trip, you will need to call the Customer Care Centre during business hours.
