For the past 36 years, my job every day has been focused on improving lives - not in an intangible, vague way but in a very real and substantial manner. I have developed and implemented successful programs and services in the Children's Services, Disabilities, Employment, and Seniors sectors. I have worked with people of southwestern Alberta to build their vision for children and families and developed an adolescent treatment centre for Kainaiwa Children's Services on the Blood Tribe First Nation. When I left Kainaiwa Children's Services, I was given the Blackfoot name Aakaoko'si (Many Children) in honour of my years of service to children and families.
I am currently Executive Director of the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization. I volunteer with the Humane Society, have coached Little League baseball, and I am an over-the-hill hockey and slo-pitch player, curler and golfer. I have three adult children and three grandchildren. Erin and I live in Legacy Ridge with our dogs Annie and Farley and our cat Magoo.
Since 1989, I have been a manager and/or senior manager with several not-for-profit organizations, the Blood Tribe First Nation, and the Government of Alberta. I have been involved extensively with community initiatives and boards as well as partnership development. I have been a workshop presenter at various training events and conferences regionally, provincially and in the United States.
