Municipal Elections

For the upcoming 2021 Municipal Election, eligible Lethbridge Electors will vote for:
  • City of Lethbridge – Mayor and Councillors
  • Lethbridge School Division or Holy Spirit Catholic School Division – School Board Trustees
  • City of Lethbridge question: "Do you support using a ward system to elect City Councillors (other than the Mayor) starting with the 2025 municipal election?”
  • City of Lethbridge question: "Do you agree that city council should approve plans to construct a 3rd bridge prior to 2030 as a municipal capital project priority?"
  • Provincial Senate Nominees
  • Any Provincial Referendums (a general vote by the electorate on a single political question)


General information:

  • Nomination Period is from January 1 to 12 p.m. on September 20, 2021
  • Nominations become official at 12 p.m. September 21, 2021
  • Advance Vote starts October 1 and any eligible Elector can vote during the Advanced Vote  
  • Election Day is Monday October 18, 2021
  • Election results become official on 12 p.m., Friday, October 22
  • Council Organizational Meeting Part I, Swearing In Ceremony and Public Reception - October 25
  • Council Orientation & Transition Program commences October 26
  • Council Organizational Meeting Part II, Appointments - November 1

Ways to Vote:

  • Advance Vote - There are eight Advance Vote Dates which occur on three weekends:
    • October 1, 2 – City Hall (Downtown)
    • October 8, 9,10 – Exhibition Outdoor Kiosks - Drive-Through (East)
    • October 14, 15,16 – ATB Centre (West)
    • Any eligible Elector can vote during the Advanced Vote
    • Eligible voters can vote at any location
    • Voting is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Election Day
    • 14 voting stations throughout the City
    • Eligible voters can vote at any location (new initiative)
    • Voting is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Institutional (assisted living facilities, hospitals, seniors' residences)
    • There are 21 designated institutions where Elections Lethbridge will set up voting 
  • At Home
    • Elections Lethbridge will provide home-bound electors the opportunity to vote by going to their home
