The City Clerk's office serves City Council, the corporation and citizens in accordance with legislation and facilitate the process of democratic governance.

Key functions include:

  • Support for City Council's Governance framework and decision-making process
  • Support for City Council and associated Boards, Commissions, and Committees
  • Municipal elections, byelections, and plebiscites
  • Municipal census
  • Preparing, recording, and publishing agendas and minutes of City Council and its Boards, Commissions, and Committees
  • Responding to information requests, while still respecting privacy issues as outlined in Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP)
  • Maintaining corporate policies and procedures
  • Managing corporate records and archives for the City
