A week after the Peaks to Prairie's initiative announced Lethbridge's first electric vehicle fast charger, the City of Lethbridge has brought four additional Level 2 chargers online in West Lethbridge. Residents and visitors can now charge their electric vehicles in the parking lot outside the front entrance to the Cor Van Raay YMCA at ATB Centre.
The four Level 2 chargers at ATB Centre are accessible using the Flo mobile app which allows users to find stations, pay for sessions and view their usage data. The stations take approximately 4 to 6 hours to fully charge a vehicle at a cost of $2/hr. Payment may be made through the Flo App, Flo card or MasterCard (via telephone number). These chargers have been operational since August 13 with signage and parking stall painting being completed this week.
With the growing popularity of the Cor Van Raay YMCA and the other amenities at ATB Centre, this is an ideal location for an electronic vehicle charging station and is the first public charger in West Lethbridge.
The City of Lethbridge is one of the founding partners of Peaks to Prairies initiative, a regional program that will see a network of electrical chargers installed across southern Alberta. By adding City owned charging stations, in conjunction with the Peaks to Prairies initiative, Lethbridge is demonstrating a commitment to supporting the transition to low-emission vehicles while enhancing tourism and economic development opportunities.
