With construction now complete, residents are invited to help officially open the City of Lethbridge's first every, bike boulevard.
Participants are welcome to bring their bike & helmet and meet friends & family for an official ribbon cutting and group ride Sunday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. The ride will begin at 21 St. S and travel down 7 Ave. S ending at London Road Park on 7 Ave. and 7 St. S.
Mayor Spearman will kick off the event with the official ribbon cutting. A pedicab (tricycle designed to carry passengers) will lead the ride with a local musician on board. The Swirls Ice Cream truck will be on-hand at London Road Park and the first 125 participants will receive free ice cream. Cycling resources, give-aways and more information on the next phase of cycling routes in Lethbridge will also be available in the park.
For participants arriving by car, there will be parking at the start of the ride in the La Verendrye School parking lot. The group will gather on the grass at the school yard prior to the ride.
The bike boulevard is an exciting new road design for Lethbridge as it gives cyclists and pedestrians a safe and convenient place to travel that connects to other major roads and pathways.
