Construction is expected to wrap up on the Whoop-Up Drive Bridge Coating project by the end of this week with all lanes re-opening to traffic.
Starting the evening of October 24, contractors will reduce westbound Whoop-Up Drive to one lane as they remove the construction barriers. On the evening of October 25, eastbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane for the same purpose. Both of these closures will be in place from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to minimize the impact to traffic. The road will be fully open in both directions the morning of Saturday, October 26.
This project was required to protect the bridge and maintain safe conditions for residents. The lengthy process of removing existing paint, sand blasting and re-painting the structure started this spring and was completed on-time, despite the early snow fall. During the construction period, one eastbound lane and one westbound lane remained closed on Whoop-Up Drive for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are thanked for their patience and understanding as this important work was completed to protect our City infrastructure.
