The bridge coating project on eastbound Whoop-Up Drive will start the evening of Thursday, May 30 and motorists should be aware of lane closures to accommodate this work.
- Thursday Evening - May 30, 2019
- 7pm to 5am – 1 westbound lane and 2 eastbound lanes will be closed on the Whoop-Up bridge deck as crews put barriers in place. The speed will be reduced to 50 km/hr.
- Friday, May 31 to approximately Oct 31, 2019
- Starting at 6am – all 3 westbound lanes will be re-opened and 2 eastbound lanes will be open on the Whoop-Up Bridge deck.
One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be closed for the remainder of the project (May 31 to approximately October 31) and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr.
In order to protect this important City infrastructure and maintain safe conditions for residents, it is necessary to maintain the bridges in our transportation network. The eastbound Whoop-Up bridge was built in 1973 and the coating now needs to be replaced to maintain the integrity of this structure.
