The bridge coating project on eastbound Whoop-Up Drive will start the evening of Thursday, May 30 and motorists should be aware of lane closures to accommodate this work.
- Thursday Evening - May 30, 2019
- 7pm to 5am – 1 westbound lane and 2 eastbound lanes will be closed on the Whoop-Up bridge deck as crews put barriers in place. The speed will be reduced to 50 km/hr.
- Friday, May 31 to approximately Oct 3, 2019
- Starting at 6am – all 3 westbound lanes will be re-opened and 2 eastbound lanes will be open on the Whoop-Up Bridge deck. One eastbound lane will be closed for the remainder of the project (May 31 to approximately October 3) and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr.
In order to protect this important City infrastructure and maintain safe conditions for residents, it is necessary to maintain the bridges in our transportation network. The eastbound Whoop-Up bridge was built in 1973 and the coating now needs to be replaced to maintain the integrity of this structure.
