Clocks are falling back an hour this weekend, and the City of Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services encourages residents to utilize this time as their biannual reminder to check your home's smoke detectors.
The expiry date on detectors should be reviewed annually and putting in fresh batteries is an important step to ensure they are working properly. If your smoke detector is more than 10 years-old, it will need to be replaced. Having a working smoke alarm is the best way to protect your family in the case of a fire.
Spend a few minutes to make sure everyone in your home recognizes the sound of the smoke alarm and knows what to do in case of a fire.
