Two downtown blocks to be temporarily renamed Veterans' Avenue for Remembrance Week Nov. 5-11

Council members unanimously approved a request from the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion to rename temporarily a two-block section of 4 Avenue South, between 9 Street South and 11 Street South, as Veterans' Avenue during Remembrance Week Nov. 5-11, 2018.

Council ratifies 4-year agreement with fire/EMS and emergency dispatch employees

City Council ratified a new four-year collective agreement with the union representing Lethbridge fire fighters and emergency dispatch employees. The agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 237 provides wage increases of 2.3 per cent, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2017, plus two per cent per year in 2018, 2019 and 2020 for a total of 209 Fire/EMS and Public Safety Communications Centre employees. IAFF members ratified the agreement on Sept. 18.
