City Council appoints interim City Manager
City Council appointed Kathy Hopkins as Interim City Manager, effective Dec. 1, 2017, to ensure a smooth transition as Council goes through the process of selecting a new city manager in the coming months. Hopkins has more than 30 years of experience in municipal government administration, including 20 years at the senior management level. She retired from the City of Lethbridge in 2015. During her career, she handled a diverse portfolio of municipal services including community services, planning and corporate services.

Council establishes search committee to recruit new city manager
With the forthcoming retirement of City Manager Garth Sherwin on Jan. 3, 2018, City Council formed an ad hoc committee to establish the process and conduct a search for a new city manager as well as review and recommend changes to the City Manager Bylaw. Appointees to the committee are Mayor Chris Spearman, Councillor Jeff Coffman, Councillor Belinda Crowson, and Councillor Joe Mauro. The committee is to provide its recommendations for the hiring process and bylaw amendments to City Council by Feb. 5, 2018.
