City Council today appointed Lloyd Brierley as the new City Manager. Brierley has signed a 5-year contract to lead the organization after holding the position of Director of Infrastructure Services since last fall. Brierley steps into the City Manager role following the resignation of current City Manager, Craig Dalton.
"I am extremely confident in Mr. Brierley's abilities and experience," says Mayor Blaine Hyggen. "He is a well respected leader who will bring stability to the organization while still seeking out new opportunities to better serve our community."
Mr. Brierley is originally from Saskatchewan and has many years of experience as a senior leader in a municipal government setting as well as with other levels of government and the private sector. His most recent role, before joining the City of Lethbridge, was at the City of Toronto as General Manager of Fleet Services.
"My family and I have quickly fell in love with Lethbridge and are excited to make this our home," says Brierley. "Both my co-workers at the City of Lethbridge and residents in the community have made us feel welcomed and supported. I also want to thank Mr. Dalton for his leadership and the immense amount of work he has done to set the City up for success. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with him and to now carry on that good work as we look to the future."
Mr. Brierley's appointment is effective February 16. 2022 and he will work with current City Manager, Craig Dalton to transition into his new role over the next two weeks.
