The City of Lethbridge is pressing play on a new way for residents to learn about the curbside organic program which rolls out next month.
The first episode of an animated video series entitled "Curbside Enthusiasm" is now available on YouTube. The eight-episode series shares tips and tricks to ease anticipated resident concerns about the new green cart.
The series features personified versions of the green, blue and black carts and follows along as they learn to work together. Residents will still receive their how-to user guide with their green cart, as well as all the program information at
Green carts will begin to hit curbsides in April for residents who currently receive blue and black cart collection. Roughly 32,000 households will receive the new addition to their waste and recycling carts between mid-April to early May.
The first organics collection date is set for mid-May, with residents seeing their first $5 charge for the program on their May utility bill.
Approximately 1,900 households (Phase 1) in the city have been using their green carts for almost a year now. Phase 1 residents
provided feedback about their experience which helped to shape the city-wide roll out. Feedback from the Phase 1 survey shows 78.1 per cent of respondents are happy with the organics program.
