City seeking resident input on snow and street sweeping programs

The City is looking to understand the best way to prioritize snow and ice control and street sweeping and wants to hear from you.

Residents have the opportunity to give their feedback on the snow control and street sweeping service levels via a public survey at getinvolvedlethbridge.ca until February 13.  The feedback will be taken into consideration by City Council for possible service level changes for the next winter season (2022/23).

A review of the service levels of the snow and ice control program and the street sweeping program were part of the recommendations made to City Council by KPMG in their 2020 operational review of the City.

In order to help residents understand how snow control changes may affect their daily commute, an interactive map was developed for the snow and ice survey. The map shows each service level option highlighted on a map of Lethbridge as well as what current service levels look like so residents can compare the options.

The street sweeping program survey outlines what current practices and service levels include along with options for residents to review and give feedback on. Options for consideration include changes to the frequency of sweeping, focusing on priority routes and rotating the sweeping of residential areas.

The survey is open until February 13 and the results of both public surveys will be presented to City Council in the spring for their consideration.
