City’s three Yard Waste Sites open, Waste & Recycling Centre (landfill) summer hours begin April 1

The City of Lethbridge's seasonal Yard Waste Sites will be opening and the Waste & Recycling Centre's summers hours begin Thursday, April 1. As the weather warms and residents begin yard maintenance and spring cleaning, the opening of the City's yard waste sites and the extended Waste and Recycling Centre hours will help manage excess waste when needed and prevent illegal dumping.

Additional safety procedures are still in place at every site to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. Site staff at each location have been trained and appropriate measures will be enforced at the Yard Waste and Waste & Recycling Centre sites to safely deliver these services to the community.

Yard Waste Sites:

  • Open 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Self-service sites meaning residents must be able to unload their own material
  • Residents must wear a mask/face covering and must keep a two metre distance when interacting with site staff or other customers
  • Residents are asked to put material in paper bags to avoid having to de-bag materials from plastic bags
  • Additionally, the following rules will be applied to help speed up the drop-off process and limit contact between staff and the public:

For more information on changes to the City's Waste and Recycling Services during COVID-19, please call Lethbridge 311 or visit www.lethbridge.ca/wrs.

Residents should be advised that the opening weekend at the Yard Waste sites coincides with the Easter weekend this year, and as such, these sites may have a longer than normal wait time. With the expected high usage, residents with trailers full of material may be directed to the Waste & Recycling Centre to drop off their load. Residents are asked to not stop or line up on the roads and if a site is at capacity, residents should come back at a later time.
